Favicon generator
Create every favicon size a modern site needs from an image, a couple of letters or an emoji — then download the files and copy the HTML.
Drop a square imagePNG or SVG, at least 512 × 512 works best
Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to a server.
Which files do you need?
favicon.ico (16, 32, 48) | Browser tabs, bookmarks and old browsers. Put it at your site root. |
favicon-32x32.png | Sharp tab icon on modern browsers. |
apple-touch-icon.png (180) | iPhone and iPad home screens. iOS adds its own rounded corners. |
android-chrome-192/512.png | Android home screen and installable web apps, listed in site.webmanifest. |
Design tips
- At 16 px, detail disappears. One or two bold letters or a simple shape works best.
- Use strong contrast; tabs can be light or dark.
- Fill the square — padding wastes the few pixels you have.
Also set up how your page looks when shared, with the meta and Open Graph tag generator.
Frequently asked questions
Do I still need favicon.ico?
It’s still the safest default: some browsers and tools request /favicon.ico automatically, even without a link tag.
Can I use an emoji as a favicon?
Yes. Type an emoji in the text box. It’s drawn with your device’s emoji font, so it looks like your system’s emoji style.
Is my image uploaded?
No. All icons are drawn in your browser.
